Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Twitter

It’s true that former President Robert Rabinovitch wasn’t exactly a “people person.” Also, he knew nothing about broadcasting. And as a bureaucrat, he got us sweet dick-all from Ottawa. This website busted his balls repeatedly but they were clearly balls that needed busting.

The current president, Mr. H. Lacroix, is a different story altogether. I think he likes us. He sure likes telling us what’s going on. And this website might bust his balls every now and then but it’s more of a playful tickling of said balls rather than a full-on death grip.

Despite all his emails, one can never have enough news about the CBC, right? What could be more important than Canada’s public broadcaster? Nay, this nation’s very culture!

So once again, we turn to twitter for this.

Sounds good to me! Now I’ll have something to talk about at work. Where do I sign up?

You know, I mentioned this to the fellows at work and they had no idea what I was talking You must be authenticated to access shorten

Yep. Something def wrong here.

Let’s check in on AboutCBC headquarters and see what the problem is:

Um, I’ll come back later.

A day? Or 2? This is twitter feed, not the Sistine Chapel ceiling!

Maybe there’s someone else with some CBC news? How about this guy, CBCdweeb? Surely he has something?

Jesus christ, what an eyesore. Isn’t there anyone a little more sane?

Thanks, AboutCBC, I’ll go check them out!

Who the hell is this know-it-all? He’s neither About nor Dweeb, twittering under what is an embarrassingly un-CBC-branded handle.

Oh wait. Apparently he’s “JB” of CBCNewsDesk and has a horse in this race. He also twitters about the CBC.

Just imagine! If every one of those followers clicked on a link, even by accident, why, that would be somewhere around 10,000 clicks! Or thereabouts!

So it’s desk vs dweeb action now, eh? That’s the way you like it, eh JB? Well, let’s see what CBCdweeb has to say about that:

FUCK. F U C K !!!!!!!!!!!! :-(

Has anyone seen the paper?

He’s lost all enjoyment of life without being the center of pity and fawning and “the future”.

    …Allan, don’t you mean “I’ve” rather than “He’s”?

ok, I think it’s really time for some tweakage of the meds….

(for both of us, since my reading here MUST be some sort of OCD.) Anybody watch “intervention” last night?)

so Maffin wants to be the ring master again of CBC social media.
He’s lost all enjoyment of life without being the center of pity and fawning and “the future”.
I kind of hope he gets something going for himself, becomes happier, and stays busy herding comments from all the gnats who have so much to say about the CBC, and don’t we all.
At least it might keep him away from making comments here, especially bad vindictive comments. Not that I’ve ever given him reason to do so, and he probably doesn’t even read Tea Makers. He’s probably not that interested in a whacked out blog about the CBC of all things.

And what a relief to not have to be shut out from the discussion because of his egotistical whims and petty grudges.
Though my piece about The Silly Boy is entirely fair and balanced, it probably wouldn’t make it past his “no personal attacks” rule. The one that ensures for sure that one person at least will never be criticized.

“Also, he knew nothing about broadcasting.”

It’s certainly true that Rabinovitch didn’t know how to be a broadcaster, couldn’t do radio or TV to save his life (although he can fix your fax machine). This is true for many, many of our managers at all levels.

But he was deputy minister of communications for a couple years. I sure he knew something about broadcasting in general before we hired him, if only the policy and economic side.

He sure as hell wasn’t a people person, though. What kind of guy crosses a picket line in a limousine?
