Did Stursberg sink Intelligence to please Stephen Harper?

The Star speculates on the cancellation of Intelligence:

“As one theory had it, new CBC brass under Richard Stursberg, head of English-language operations, was worried enough about the spectre of privatization under the federal Conservatives without making it worse with a show about one of Ottawa’s most secret operations: the sale of Canadian water.”

Where have we heard this before? Chris Haddock himself.

They forget that Stursberg fears no mortal, and certainly no government. Organizations come and go, but the CBC is eternal.

I watched Trojan Horse Part 1. Definitely worth two hours of my life.

yep. it seems to have a good spot on sunday and while i haven’t been watching Canadian tv but i believe you when you say its getting the network push.

Lots of promos for Trojan Horse – prime Sunday evening slot. Not buried at all.

It does sound like a bit of a stretch but we have to see how and when its programed. its already been a long time on the shelf (Trojan Horse aka H20 two) Im going to predict its gets buried. just guessing- lets wait and see.

ps- Allen, please forgives yourself. I don’t know what you do or why you do it but Im sure you’re okay. Your intense hatred (of others success) doesn’t come across very well. It appears as a deeper problem thats overwhelming your talents.

Ah, that’s a bit of a stretch. If Stursberg is so concerned about CBC’s connection to this issue, why is he allowing Trojan Horse (aka H2O II) in the schedule?

The only network desperate enough to buy Intelligence is one located in Kazakhstan. Unless the Globe & Mail wants to start a new specialty channel, programmed by John Doyle. Could call it “Bald TV” to match their cutting-edge demographic.

It sounds like it could be politically motivated.>>this board seems like its run by bitter tv workers who have trouble making ends meet. The most bitter and depressed being “allen” He also seems repressed about his place in the world as he chooses to hide behind the id veil. Its going to be okay allen.

Once America decides they need Canada’s water they’ll just take it and there’s nothing Richard Stursberg can do about it.

Linda Diebel suggests Canadians may have to depend on Chris Haddock’s imagination for our intelligence.
    God helps us.
Why doesn’t he just shut the fuck up and sell his stupid show to the Americans, instead of spouting more self-important pipe dreams and bleating that it’s someone else’s fault the residuals have stopped flowing.
More water for poor Chris Haddock and his boring actors, and stupid lame show, please. You know how it is when you get accustomed to a certain lifestyle. Just ask the group from The 11th Hour!
Chris is just hoping to intimidate the CBC into a mercy contract of re-runs, because his own imagination has dried up. The long-haired freak now wants us to believe that he was really just doing it primarily for the environment.
I saw your show, Chris. And it sucked the life out the room every second it was on. As compared with imbuing it the way the Sopranos does. Wooden acting, silly, monotonous directing, and nothing worth coming back for after the commercial.
    A stupid, stupid, stupid show.
That’s just my opinion. Please don’t be offended.
And please make my daughter a regular in your next series.

So much AGAIN for our govt’s rule of Arm’s Length Agreement when meddling in the affairs of the CBC. Now more proof Harper (remember Mulroney….same genetics !)is selling Canada off to the USA. If it was Americans living up here they would sell us Canadians the water by the ounce. Legally thiagreement by the Conservatives the US gets our water first & if there is any left guaranteed we will buy it $$$$ back from them by the bottle (presently priced higher than oil & with little processing costs).
History shows :The liberals gave away taxpayer’s money to their Cdn friends, while the Conservatives always give away taxpayer’s money to their American friends. Anyone ask what happenned to the Fraser river-water agreement that expired about 11 years ago.
Wake up Canadians & smell the coffee before the water runs out to make it !
