Jee-ahn Goh-meshi’s the narrator for This Beat Goes On and Rise Up. You can dance if you want to, Jian.

Must suck to have to narrate a doc about Canadian music in which (if there’s any justice) your own horrible band is never mentioned…. but yeah, making fun of his name is kinda weak, dude.

    Jian Ghomeshi = Pretentious Personified.

Back in the day, he was only know as ‘Jean’, spelled as such and pronounced ‘John’.
I think when he was in that band ‘Tall New Buildings’.

    *Oh-oh, uh-huh, I’m breaking thru her walls.* – lyric.

Down to making fun of the pronunciation of the guy’s name? Wow, Fake Ouimet, you baby, you are a TOOL.

    A Too – too – too – toolie tool!

Now prance back to Leslieville, close the thread and be done with it you FUCKWIT.

    • Fake Ouimet says:

I again deny being a fuckwit. What I’m making fun of is his adamant overarticulation of his name. Have you not heard him lecturing his guests on how to say it? There are worse things in the world than having your name pronounced like “John.” Play was one of those worse things.

And anyway, if he were serious, which he isn’t about anything, he would use a voiced velar fricative as the first phoneme of his surname. And the stress would be different. So it’s all for show, which is at least consistent with the rest of his manufactured persona.
