‘CBC no longer should be considered a TV network’

In an indirect quote, Dick Stursberg perpetuates the right-wing-asshole misapprehension that CBC is CBC Television. (Why are we spending a billion dollars if all we get is Wheel of Fortune?)

The CBC is a news tv and radio organization, with some live sports on television, which commissions most other content and edits newswires for the web.

Also it squeezes independent producers as much as it can, while it can.

It takes a lot of nerve to talk such bullshit. The CBC is, of course, primarily a self sustaining bureaucracy. If it took providing content seriously there would not be a 500 to 1 ratio of managers to writers.

This Dick, the head of the English services, has some pretty wacky ideas. Hopefully hell be given a senate seat soon so he can spread his wisdom in Ottawa. We need to provide quality programming that can be distributed through all ways available.

Much like television did not kill the movies in the 50's, the many content platforms we have will compliment out services. Before Dick thinks about being on every platform he should ensure that the quality it there.

Perhaps Dick can have an all Carol channel on youtube.
