    Local news in Toronto, having already made some changes, is getting record ratings. We beat City-TV at 6 and are now starting to beat Global TV on occasion. This makes us #2 in the market.

    Change is good. We have new consultants that come from the privates, and in particular from the #1 rated stations. We are headed in the right direction. Don’t get caught up in yesterday. A new era is dawning and the results are already visible. All we need to do now is make sure all those long term employees don’t revert back to the way things used to be. It’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks … maybe better to package them out.

    The “problem” with CBC news is the distortion of the content (bias or perceived bias) and not the packaging of the “stories”.

    Jennifer McGuire’s appeal for clever ideas to curtail the rapid decline of the CBC news audience is an act of desperation which will be followed by the worst layoffs in the CBC’s history.
