Desktop Support Analyst (3 months) – TOR02789

In this position, you will provide end-user support and second level response on personal computer systems, diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve problems related to personal computer hardware and software. We are looking for someone that has creativity and initiative along with the ability to coordinate the work of others.

Key Tasks:

  • In this role, you will install and maintain personal computers, printers and other peripherals, as well as the software designated from time to time as meeting IT standards.
  • You will also provide support for personal computer hardware by troubleshooting hardware problems, offering advice as to whether out-of warranty unit repairs should be undertaken.
  • In addition, you will be responsible for PC upgrades, hardware, operating systems and applications as required.
  • This position will also support peripheral devices such as printers and scanners, installation of additional components on peripheral(s) as requested or required.
  • You will maintain up-to-date knowledge of, and provide second level support for the PC software which IT Management designates from time to time as being fully supported and desktop support for all CBC applications that can be accessed from Personal Computers.
  • The position will also require you to document in detail, and preferably on a daily basis, all repairs, adjustments, modifications, etc. effected, and/or the status of each action item, in the appropriate reporting system.
  • You will escalate recurring or repetitive hardware or software problems to the immediate supervisor so alternative approaches can be explored, assist in the testing and rollout of new PC-based systems and participate in ad hoc projects such as open houses, elections, etc.
  • Within this role, you will also consult with users and make recommendations regarding hardware and/or software requirements or options and prepare documentation relating to desktop support to assist other IT personnel in their work.

Qualifications:

  • Community College diploma in computer sciences, or the equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of practical and relevant experience in a complex Information Technology environment, with particular emphasis on servicing and supporting clients who use personal Computers.
  • Practical experience acquired in a media production support environment.
  • Ability to provide leadership, supervision and direction to users.
  • Experience in dealing with personnel and providing maintenance of computer systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational skills and detail oriented in technical documentation.
  • Ability to manage several priorities and meet multiple, tight deadlines.
  • Able to amplify technical terms for effective communication to the client and successfully interact with various levels of clients.
  • Discretion, diplomacy and tact in communications with clients.
