CBC/Radio-Canada is Canada’s national public broadcaster and one of its largest cultural institutions. What you do:

As a reporter, you will be required to write copy, and produce reports for newscasts, news/information programs, and the Web, in keeping with corporate standards and policies.

For references purposes:

Four (4) full-time staff reporter positions are available in the recently established news flying squad in Montreal. Incumbents will have to backfill for varying – most often medium-length – periods in the various newsroom units, including news, current affairs and special/cross-cultural projects, on all three platforms: radio, television and the Web. They may also be assigned, on temporary upgrade or as backfill, to other duties such as assignment editor, lineup editor and journalist/anchor.

Initially, the planned assignments will be distributed as follows:

– Two (2) reporters will be assigned to field reporting, primarily for radio.
– Two (2) reporters will be assigned to the desk.

These are full-time staff positions. As far as possible, consistent weekly assignment schedules will be established. Incumbents assigned to field reporting will report to the chief editor in charge of newsgathering, those assigned to the desk will report to the resource manager.


  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent;
  • Minimum (3) three years’ journalism experience or equivalent;
  • Excellent general knowledge;
  • In-depth knowledge of current events;
  • Fluent in the working language (French);
  • Excellent knowledge of the other official language (English);
  • Knowledge of communications methods specific to the media (Web, Radio, TV), as well as interview techniques;
  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices;
  • Valid driver’s licence.
