This is a half time contract position (early morning shift). This position will focus on presenting traffic and weather to British Columbians in Metro Vancouver.
We are hiring a new member of our Early Edition on air team. The successful candidate will deliver traffic and weather information on a daily three hour morning news and current affairs show.
The working language is English.
You Bring:
- Excellent on air skills and a proven ability to engage in energetic discussions with other members of the on air team.
- Knowledge about Vancouver traffic and transportation patterns and issues
- A willingness to take part in community outreach as required
- An ability to understand and present weather reports in an entertaining and informative way
Function:
- Performs reporting and editorial assignments related to the gathering, writing and presentation of program material for radio, television or other media.
- Work is governed by CBC journalistic and programming policies and standards.
- Advice and guidance are regularly available but there is latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
- There may be opportunity to co-ordinate the work of others and close co-operation with the program unit is essential.
Education Required: University degree or equivalent.
Experience Required: Three years of directly related experience that includes proven ability in the field and knowledge of the broadcasting industry.
