What’s the Role?

Marketplace, Canada’s leading investigative consumer affairs television show is currently seeking an Associate Producer. The Associate Producer will be required to work closely with the Executive Producer, the hosts and the entire Marketplace team.

The Associate Producer will participate in the production, direction and/or postproduction of the program. Contributes ideas for program content; participates in the preparation of program objectives. Must be able to act and react quickly. Openness and a sense of humour are a must in our successful candidate.

What you bring:

  • Job requires a university degree.
  • Job requires a minimum of two years relevant experience during which the candidate would gain exposure to journalism, computers and the technology of radio or television broadcasting, in current affairs.
  • A background in TV current affairs, specifically investigative journalism
  • An understanding of consumer journalism, and the tools needed to achieve it.
  • Experience in filing freedom of information requests
  • Solid journalistic skills and demonstrated understanding of CBC standards and practices particularly those sections dealing with misrepresentation and hidden cameras and microphones.
  • Able to work with experienced producers and hosts to develop and produce high-impact current affairs programming, under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to think critically and the ability to apply critical thinking.
  • Ability to investigate both deeply and quickly, carrying out careful and original research while satisfying tight deadline expectations
  • Proven ability to unearth new information
