Try To Hit That

The CBC’s Air Farce New Year’s Eve Special 2009 had all the humour you’d expect from asking 8 year-olds to write a TV special. But for one brief moment there was something that a grown-up could actually relate to.

Too bad there isn’t a mandatory retirement age in comedy.

When we remember all that Wayne & Shuster did for Canada, the joy they brought to our homes in those early years and the pride they gave us appearing regularly on the Ed Sullivan Show, and then are exposed to the calibre of “jokes” emanating from the Air Farce, one is less inclined to think mandatory retirement, and more inclined to think death panels.

I thought they already retired! They promised us they were gone for good–did I imagine that? IT’S NOT FAIR!
