They offered me the office, offered me the shop. They said I'd better take anything they'd got. Do you wanna make tea at the CBC? Do you wanna be, do you really wanna be a cop?
“…it’s odd that you have to smoke inside a white stripe outside….” My guess is that BBT was referring to the moronic liberal, nanny, trend of making a legal product, tobacco, illegal to smoke not only indoors but also outdoors.
And maybe it’s time for Jian! to only interview Canadian actors and musicians and stop the attempt to climb to fame.
Maybe CBC doesnt need a fame show with a reputed rock entrepreneur (paging George S.) Can we have Sheila Rogers back now?
And if everyone is doing a Joaquim |Phoenix on the show where will that leave little sputtering Jian? Maybe this is a protest about CBC cuts. Though Mother Corp BBC’s Worldwide got a lambasting in the British House of Commons today. So attacks on public (not gov’t) broadcasters are more common in economic hard times.
Jian thought he hadn’t done anything wrong. Somehow, it wasn’t communicated to him just how serious Billy was about not bringing up the movie career. Like, super serious. But the moment you have to do an interview like this, you know it’s the first issue you have to resolve. When I first heard this morning that this would be happening, I thought (a) Ugh, more irrelevant American promotion with a brand name before you feed the listeners the Canadian stuff. Such a compromise in the name of being popular. (b) wonder how much he’ll tolerate talking about his movie career. Usually a deal is struck ahead of time, like 10%. But you know it could be tricky with these guys – Russel Crowe, Kevin Bacon, Kevin Costner and even Steven Segal, and the very safest thing you can do when the rest of the band is there is to focus totally on the music and treat everyone equally. That approach works absolutely. I missed the show when it aired, expecting it to be quite boring, so glad to see that it was actually noteworthy. And to have the video up so fast – great! Kind of surprised to see how good looking Billy is these days.
Oooohhhh Billy Bob. Why so prissy ‘n bitchy? Did they make you sit on an antique chair or something?
Radio skills and microphone consumption aside, I’m impressed that Jian didn’t back down and held pouty-pants to the question. ‘Ol Billy Bob was expecting to cow you into submission there, Jian. Glad you held your ground.
Next time make sure you’re wearing a velvet jacket and give him a great big hug.

billy bob is an idiot
Sorry, but….. this is the sort of act covered by our flagship arts show? Why exactly?
NatPost seems all over it on its blog side. Odd.

I was thinking the same thing. Why is he so close to the mic? Hasn’t he been doing this for years?
This is why you pre-tape, kids.
Also, did Jian never go to Radio Skills class?
He’s eating that microphone. You don’t have to slobber all over a mic to sound nice. Who produces this show? Are they afraid of their own announcer?
Rex used to smoke inside Montreal’s checkup office. Gross.
