Match the viewer praise with the CBC-TV program

THE PROGRAMS

  1. Royal Canadian Air Farce
  2. This is Wonderland
  3. Newsworld (general)
  4. The Tournament
  5. Hatching Matching and Dispatching
  6. DaVinci’s City Hall
  7. Politics (with Don Newman)

THE PRAISE

  1. Exactly the kind of programming that draws me to the CBC. If I want undemanding fluffy programming I can watch Global. I would like to see the CBC develop, promote and sustain intelligent, complex, and “local” programming (that is, programming that uses the wealth of real-life Canadian stories as its base).
  2. It has a very sophisticated BBC look about it.
  3. Dis is the third time I’ve watched it, da same show I mite add, are you gonna show us some more, I lovs it I tell ya, I loves it.
  4. I think this is a fantastic show. I never miss an episode of either and never will as long as they are on the air.
  5. Really love the show this year. The humour is over the top. Just love it.
  6. [the host] is the best neutral host on CBC television today. I watch national news on other channels but for politics there are no alternatives to [him].
  7. How can my two children audition to be on the show next season?

Somebody wants their kids to audition to be on Newsworld? I’ve heard J-school is useless but I thought at least a university degree would help…

Chatter about “The One” assumes it will be a “Canadian Clone”. But isn’t there a possibility that they are, in fact, planning to simply simulcast the ABC program? Nah, that’s going too far.

It’s a trick! Where’s the negative comment on how boring and unfunny Air Farce is?

And what happened to the Audience Relations reports? They used to be very detailed, and very regular. Then they went into a coma, and don’t seem to have fully recovered.

Didn’t post guesses for the last one because I really had no clue for about 5 of the 7. This one seems a little easier, although I’m torn between the Wonderland and DaVinci comments; but if there’s one thing Reach for the Top taught me, it’s to go with my gut.

Haven’t looked at the new program lineup/schedule in much depth, but I see a few things I’ll be watching. The Canadian One is going to have to be incredibly stupefyingly amazingly brilliant (i.e. the polar opposite of the shows it’s apparently meant to clone) to get me to tune in, though.

I am kind of disappointed at the lack of a prime-time/late-night entertainment program, which I’d hoped might be in the mix with the new “realitainment” focus. I still miss the first season of Friday Night… that was some worthwhile, unique programming. (The less said about the “let’s be wacky” second season, the better!)
