TBC Art

Leafing through Frank magazine on the newsstand the other day, I was taken aback to see a CBC memo contained therein. It was faithfully reprinted in its entirety, no commentary or explanation given, no words changed and no jibes taken. It was presented as-is, as “gossip.”

As far as I know, most employees delete these immediately, never imagining someone would pay real dollars to read them. Which gives me a good idea for a coffeetable book: The Illustrated Works of Net Pub Eng.

The memo in question was announcing the current plan to replace the stinky, rented artwork in the TBC with CBC props, costumes, art, photos, and ephemera from storage. While I miss the dancing rats from the 7th floor, I’m quite enjoying the replacements and the plan can easily be deemed a success.

Near the blue elevators on the first floor there is a short series of panels depicting life in the TBC, and this one stopped me in my tracks:

A fired employee being escorted out by security.

The chap certainly looks happy. Maybe he got the fabled Judy Fantham Package.

Or maybe he’s just drunk?

March 14/2006 10pm addendum:
The painting appears to have been stolen. If the art thief is reading this, I will gladly pay fair market value for its return.

    Don’t give me any ideas!

The security guard near the blue elevators has been there a few days, I think the card reader for the door to the garage isn’t working properly.
On an unrelated note, I really hope he would stop lurking behind the corner and freaking me out! And what’s he always writing in his notepad, anyway?

There’s a picture just like it on the wall next to the purple elevators on the fifth floor. Let’s see how long before that one disappears.

Was it stolen? There’s a security guard down there now.
