At the age of 65, Metro Morning host Andy Barrie announced his retirement today.
He will be replaced by TBA, an as yet unidentified host on March 1.
Morning hosts are the hardest talent to replace, and the pressure is on Donlon to not screw up in choosing a replacement in front of her home town, the biggest market.
Most likely, a current announcer will move up in the ranks, someone considered to have an extremely well-rounded personality.
0 hrs. left of saying good-bye to Andy Barrie, hello Matt Galloway

The fact that they did not announce his replacement today suggests that management is conflicted as to who it should be. Which means somebody, maybe Denise, is vetoing Matt Galloway...
-
....or maybe someone recently laid off at City-TV/MuchMusic (the other talent pool?)
-
Uh...or they wanted Barrie to have the moment. See, that's called decency. Not surprised you didn't pick up on that here.
-
What's indecent about wanting to know who will be on Metro Morning?
-
Galloway is great - and I guess this would be a step up in terms of listeners - but I really like him where he is in the afternoon.
-
Jesse Hirsh has been mentioned.
-
Galloway is the best choice.
-
Nora Young would be the Donlon-type winner

Whatever happened to Jane Farrow? She'd be great.

Replacement announced this morning - Matt Galloway!

Eeeek

so after all of that, it went to the obvious successor -- and they just spaced out the announcement to let Andy have the day to himself in the news. Teamakers tea leaves gets it all righto again!!!

I guess I'll date myself, when I say how much I miss Peter... There, did it anyway.

It wasn't just Peter.
It was the kind of radio show that he did which just seemed so obviously the most appropriate kind of radio show for a national broadcaster at that time of day.
Why is this so hard to figure out for Donlon?
"Q" is really a night time show - look at how dark the colours and studio are.
