Hi,
Hope you’re having a golden summer wherever you may be… Been working like mad on the launch of season seven of the tv show and the radio show. Lots of changes in the works… I think you’re going to dig what the team is coming up with. Including changing the name of the TV show. I’m thinking of calling it ‘The Jeffersons’ but CBC isn’t really going for that.

Regardless, this page is being shut down soon (Fer real). Now, I know people hate to move, but this is an easy one, so if you are up it, I’ll be at a new fb page. Work, life, and horoscopes (kidding obv). And much doper (read: dumber profile pics as evidenced below)

He’s not producing any documentaries or even fun shows.

He’s not taking us anywhere.

He’s not being funny, ever.

He’s not writing a blog or his own lines on The Hour.

He’s unable to prevent people in Los Angeles from reading The Tea Makers.

He’s not signing for new work that will prevent him from returning to Toronto in two months to put the country through another year of The Hour, though we wish he were.

Burton Cummings has a long ways to go to catch up to George Stroumboulopoulos.

But neither are anywhere near high school drop-out, now Chancellor, Peter Mansbridge.

For all three, school’s out … FOREVER!

• As a leader, you will regularly co-ordinate and supervise the work of others as required.
• Play key role in continuing to develop the format. You will develop and execute strategy for consistent delivery of high quality programming and sustain significant audience interest in the program.

What You Bring:

• University degree or equivalent with a minimum of eight years related experience.
• Sound understanding of CBC’s role as Canada’s national public broadcaster.
• Strong, highly developed, production and editorial skills for television with a lively sense of programming. Demonstrated vetting skills.
• Demonstrated ability to perform in the leadership role and coach staff of a large program unit.
• Demonstrated experience in extending content to multiple platforms
• Experience in working with corporate extension of production
• Experience in daily programming
• Experience in live or live-to-tape programming
• Experience in “event” programming
• A broad understanding and interest of contemporary cultural, social and political issues.
• Ability to work in a deadline driven environment while maintaining a calm, professional and understanding attitude.
• Experience in overseeing a large production budget

Neither he nor Jian will tell it straight because they see themselves as ambassadors of the CBC, and therefore bound to give only politically correct answers. Though they assert that they have independent thoughts, anyone would be hard-pressed to say what either of them actually stand for.
In Jian’s case it’s basically more funding for the arts, an area in which he has a direct financial stake.
For George it’s motorcycles, hockey fanaticism, and finding different ways of saying he’s not a brainwashed Christian, when it’s kind of obvious that he is.
Both of them want to stay on the safe side of as many Canadians as possible.
No questions about abortion, please, or if either of them belong to a political party.
Better to stick with “which was your favourite and which was your most difficult interview?”
But that’s probably not what PoonGirl has in mind.
